    Welcome to Combined Touch

Combined Touch is a not-for-profit social enterprise developed with its service users in mind. Our day centre is available four days per week and is aimed at service users with early onset to mid-stage dementia.

We also offer domiciliary care to support people who wish to remain independent.

We aim to support people both at home and in our day centre to combat social isolation and maintain a good quality, full, independent and interesting life.

We welcome volunteers and actively encourage retired people to come along either to sit and chat, have a cup of tea and a bite to eat, or join us to provide support and assistance to our service users.

Our days are structured but not regimented, and our service users are encouraged to use their minds and bodies in both physical and mental exercises, chatter, dance and music.

In addition to the centre, we offer domiciliary care, assistance and support at home such as helping to de-clutter, downsize to a new home, organise an existing home or move to a residential or family setting. Companionship and help with outings are also services we provide (such as cooking, cleaning, trips to the hospital/social occasions, etc).

    What Is Dementia?

The word “dementia” decribes a set of symptoms which may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem solving or language.  It is an umbrella term for a range of progressive symptoms and conditions which affect the brain and memory.  One of these diseases is called “Alzheimers Disease”  and is the most common and well known cause of dementia.  It is not however the only one.

The changes for someone with dementia are often small to start with but as the disease progresses, the changes will become more pronounced and more debilitating and in most cases they will eventually become severe enough to affect daily life.

By getting to know our client early in the disease, there will be a comfort through familiarity which in turn will help alleviate some of the stress caused by this disease as it progresses.

    Who Are Combined Touch?

    About Us

Combined Touch day centre is committed to providing quality care and support for people with dementia, as well as their friends and family. The centre is a place where loved ones can experience companionship and activity for a few hours or all day. Friends and relatives can be certain that their loved one will be looked after by caring, competent and well-trained staff and volunteers in a homely atmosphere.

Our service users are helped and encouraged to live full, interesting and independent lives. In all cases, an initial meeting and assessment will take place with the potential service user and their main carer. A care plan will be agreed and this will develop as we get to know the service user.

We value each service user as an individual and try to keep rules and regulations to a minimum. We have commitment to our staff and volunteers, and to their training and development. This provides a stable and professional team dedicated to our principle of person-centred care.
